Ensembl stable ID prefixes

Stable IDs are created in the form [species prefix][feature type prefix][a unique eleven digit number]. For example a mouse gene might be ENSMUSG###########. The prefixes are listed below.

Feature prefixes

E exon
FM Ensembl protein family
G gene
GT gene tree
P protein
R regulatory feature
T transcript

Species prefixes

PrefixSpecies name
ENSHomo sapiens (Human)
ENSMUSMus musculus (Mouse)
